Blocs 5 Makes Blocs Templates Even More Useful
I am excited to finally share with you a number of significant news about Blocs Templates for Blocs 5.
First of all, Blocs 4 templates work perfectly fine in Blocs 5. But, with Blocs 5, there are a lot of improvements to how we can work with templates. In addition to previously available Page Templates and Custom Blocs, we now have the amazing Site Templates feature, which allows users to install full multi-page websites as site templates, and change the color scheme or font for the whole website with just a couple of clicks.
Of course, it means that I will have to rebuild major parts of every template I have in my big collection. This is exactly what I have been doing for the past few weeks. As of today, there are already over 20 Bloc project files upgraded to the Blocs Site template format (which uses the BEX extension), and many more will follow in the coming weeks.
Right now, I have divided the templates into two categories: Blocs 5 Site Templates and Blocs 5 Bloc Projects. Both work fine in Blocs 5, but with the upgraded Site Templates, you have more features and optimizations. You can switch between the two categories using the tabs on the Blocs Templates page. In addition to converting the older templates to Site Templates, I am also planning to rebuild about 20 templates from scratch in the coming months.
Other significant news about Blocs Templates for Blocs 5:
All Blocs Templates are now using local fonts by default, making them fully GDPR compliant for EU users. I recommend downloading and installing these local fonts if you ever plan on using any of my templates.
The significant advantage of the Site Template format is the ability to apply Global Color Swatches across the whole project, including inside the Class Editor. This means that it is super easy to change the site’s color scheme by adjusting just one color swatch. Making sure this feature works takes a lot of time for me, but it greatly improves the user experience when using my templates. You can now change the color scheme of your website with just one click. It is amazing and very useful.
I have decided to finally upgrade all of my templates to the Bootstrap 5 framework, so everything works perfectly and very fast in Blocs 5. If you still need the Bootstrap 4 framework for your project, you can use the Blocs 4 templates in Blocs 5.
